' 0/j City of Elk -..„ River 13065 Orono Parkway PROCLAMATION Elk River.MN 55330 A PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING THE WEEK OF AUGUST 19, 2012, AS YELLOW RIBBON COMMUNITY WEEK WHEREAS, the Minnesota National Guard pioneered a program establishing a comprehensive support network to meet the needs of service members,military families,and employers in Minnesota;and WHEREAS, Service members and their military families bear a burden during the deployment cycle of not only the worry and stress of a loved one protecting our country,but continue to operate their homes and provide support to their family's lives on a day-to-day basis;and WHEREAS, A Yellow Ribbon Community unites all areas within a community to create a comprehensive network that involves Family Assistance Centers and connects and coordinates agencies,organizations,resources,and employers for the purposes of proactively supporting service members and military families;and WHEREAS, The City Council believes in the importance of supporting all the city's residents,including services members and their families,in order to provide service members peace of mind that their families can continue to conduct day- to-day duties while they sacrifice themselves to protect our freedom;and WHEREAS, The City of Elk River has been designated a Yellow Ribbon Community and the City Council believes it is vitally important for the Elk River Community to participate as a Yellow Ribbon Community in which service members and their families can depend upon. NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Elk River City Council hereby proclaims the week of August 19,2012,as Yellow Ribbon Community Week. Passed and adopted this 20th day of August,2012.
