Recommendations:
Due to the amount and severity of the corrosion encountered we believe that the future
performance of the building structure could be compromised if not remedied. It is our
suggestions that, in addition to controlling the environment within the arena area,
individual steel members be further investigated, cleaned, repaired if necessary, and
painted. Afterward new insulation and sound /fireproofing should be applied.
Areas needing further investigation and repair will likely be associated with the areas of
discolored finishes the majority of which appear to be located near where the purlins are
supported on the steel girders (bents).
The process should be as follow:
1) Remove insulation and sound /fire proofing materials in areas where
discoloration is present.
2) Observe exposed steel for corrosion and continue removing finishes until
sound, non - corroded steel is encountered.
3) Contact engineer for review of exposed areas and determining course of
action. This will likely be either do nothing, clean and paint or repair and
pain.
4) Reapply insulation and fire proofing.
If you any questions regarding our work or this letter please give Lindau Companies, Inc
a call.
Sincerely,
I hereby certify that this plan, specification, or
report was prepared by me or under my direct LINDAU COMPANIES, INC.
supervision and that I am a duly Licensed
Professional Engineer under the laws of the State
of Minnesota.
6(-•
William H.
