Park&Recreation Commission Minutes Page 2 <br /> March 14,2012 <br /> Planner/Parks Planner, Chris Leeseberg presented the Elk River Senior Center and Ice <br /> Arena reports. <br /> Mr. Leeseberg also presented the Recreation report stating that February is the month <br /> recreation staff begins to focus on planning for the upcoming summer season. This <br /> planning requires such tasks as hiring new seasonal staff, adjusting existing programs and <br /> coordinating with other divisions such as Park Maintenance on facility needs. <br /> 8. Action Items <br /> 8.1. Major Park Use Request- River's Edge Commons Park <br /> Planner/Parks Planner, Chris Leeseberg presented a major park use request to rent River's <br /> Edge Commons Park for eight hours versus the six hours as stated in the rental policy and <br /> the applicant would like to have a band playing in the park during the wedding reception. <br /> Commissioner Karlsen questioned the alcohol ordinance and how it would be kept out of <br /> the park if the group is also utilizing the lower parking lot adjacent to the park. <br /> Parks and Recreation Director,Michael Hecker explained that the Parks and Recreation <br /> Commission is only considering the use and rental of the park and that the use and rental of <br /> the parking lot will be going to the City Council. <br /> Commissioner Nystrom expressed that the damage deposit amount was too low for and <br /> event of eight hours. <br /> MOVED BY COMMISSIONER NIZIOLEK AND SECONDED BY <br /> COMMISSIONER AHLNESS TO RECOMMEND TO CITY COUNCIL TO ACCEPT <br /> STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS WITH THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES. TO <br /> INCORPORATE THE ADDITIONAL TWO HOURS CHARGE A TOTAL OF $450 <br /> ALONG WITH THE STANDARD $250 DAMAGE DEPOSIT. THE GROUP WORK <br /> WITH THE PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT REGARDING THE MUSIC <br /> THE BAND PERFORMS. ALCOHOL IS NOT TO BE PERMITTED IN RIVER'S <br /> EDGE COMMONS PARK PROPERTY AND THE GROUP WILL COVER THE COST <br /> OF ANY ADDITIONAL FEES SUCH AS EXTRA TRASH CANS AND STAFF <br /> ATTENDANTS AS DETERMINDE BY THE PARKS& RECREATION <br /> DEPARTMENT. MOTION CARRIED 6-0 <br /> 9. Park/Program Highlights <br /> Planner/Parks Planner, Chris Leeseberg shared and update on the Recreation Staff moving <br /> the City Hall. <br /> 10. Announcements <br /> Mayor Dietz shared that the city is still pursuing Hockey Day in MN for Jan. 2014. <br />
