• —:—:
Elk River ...
Municipal Utilities
13069 Orono Parkway
P.O. Box 430
Elk River, MN 55330
(763) 441-2020
UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING
TO: FROM:
Elk River Municipal Utilities Commission Theresa Slominski —Finance Director
John Dietz, Chair
Daryl Thompson, Vice Chair
Allan Nadeau, Trustee
MEETING DATE: AGENDA ITEM NUMBER:
July 17, 2012 6.1
SUBJECT:
Staff Updates
• DISCUSSION:
We had 1601 credit card payment transactions in June, compared to 1438 in May. The fee for
June should be $3,602.25.
As a follow up to our Customer Expectations list of Respect, Innovation, Knowledge, Education,
and Communication mentioned last month, we will be including a survey in the bills this month.
We are looking for customer feedback on the importance of these items, and how we are doing
on providing them. We will also have the survey available on the website for those customers
who would prefer to complete it online.
We have had some customers come in to purchase garbage stickers and wanting to use their
credit card to be able to do this. Many people don't carry cash or checks and use a checking
account debit/credit card for purchases. Unfortunately, we don't have this capability with our
system. Customers can pay their bills with a credit card but the smaller miscellaneous
transactions we are not set up for. The City has agreed to be able to complete these transactions
for us since that is exactly what they are set up for. The customer will still have to walk down
the hall to the City to complete the transaction but it is more convenient than having to leave the
building in search of an ATM machine and then return to purchase a $2.00 garbage sticker. It is
our hope that in the future we would be able to accommodate these types of transactions as well,
when our billing software has incorporated this technology into the Point of Sale (POS) system
we use.
POWEINAOi W:
Reliable Public
Power Provider P O W E R E D To S E R V E
