Operations

The proposed workshop studio will be a hobby business to be operated from
the home including the porch, garden and potting shed. The operations can
be characterized by the following:
A mostly female clientele of 5- 8 people
· Open on Saturdays between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and by
appointment, and with seasonal open houses.
· Projects likely to include the making of linens, candies, soaps, and other
hand made comforts.
· Any sales would be incidental to the operations of the business.

Comments

The staff views this business to be more aligned with a social gathering than
a business as it is described by Teresa Dejarlais. A few more cars on the
weekend should not adversely effect parking or become a nuisance to the
neighbors.

Planning Commission

On April 28th, 1998, the Planning Commission met and recommended
approval of a request by Teresa Dejarlais for a conditional use permit to
operate an art studio from her home. No one spoke at the public hearing.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the City Council recommend approval of this request
with the following conditions:

1. NO MORE THAN 8 CLIENTS BE ADMITTED AT ONE TIME.

2. RETAIL SALES SHOULD NOT OCCUR ON A DAILY BASIS GIVING THE
IMPRESSION OF A "RETAIL ENVIRONMENT."
