Update on Main Street Parking Plaza construction project <br />U <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />Main Street Parking Plaza Update <br />Despite slight weather delays, project moving forward <br />Friday, May 25, 2012 <br />Construction on the Main Street Parking Plaza in downtown Elk River began on Wednesday, <br />May 23. Peterson and Companies out of Chisago City began mobilization, erosion control and <br />removals Wednesday morning. Due to rainy weather, no work was completed on Thursday, <br />May 24, however construction resumed early this morning. <br />The front foundation walls of the demolished buildings will be removed today. Peterson <br />and Companies are working on the removals of the concrete behind the buildings on <br />:Jackson. .All back doors to the businesses on f ackson will ramped in with gravel by the end of <br />today for access. If access is a challenge on the gravel surface, please let us know. <br />There have been concerns expressed over the dumpsters located in the parking lot along US <br />HWY 10. Please note this is a temporary location until construction of the trash enclosure is <br />complete. Once the project complete, businesses will be able to locate their dumpster in the <br />enclosure, which will not only improve the jriew of the downtown from US HWY 10, but <br />open up additional parking. <br />• <br />Saturday, May 26-Monday, May 28 <br />There will be no construction over Memorial Day weekend. <br />Tuesday, May 29 <br />Peterson and Companies will begin the underground utility and storm sewer work on <br />"luesday. Electrical work will also begin to prepare for the removal of the utility pole. "This <br />work will not affect power downtown. <br />Thursday, May 31, 8:OOpm -Temporary Power Outage <br />There will be a temporary power outage for the businesses located on the west side of Jackson <br />on Thursday, May 31. This outage is anticipated to last roughly two hours and will begin at <br />8:OOpm. Please note, this outage will affect businesses from Kemper Drug, down to the <br />Houlton building (Edward Jones/Avalon Salon). The outage WILL NUT affect properties in <br />the surrounding area, only those located on the west side of Jackson. <br />Please ensure you are communicating this outage with your patrons, tenants and property <br />owners and plan accordingly. <br />Looking ahead <br />We appreciate your cooperation and patience with this project and are working to ensure we <br />are doing everything we can to accommodate the downtown businesses. <br />We are excited about this project, and are looking forward to not only the additional parking it <br />will bring to support downtown business, but to the opportunity it provides for special events, <br />specifically the Farmer's Market. <br />http://campaign.r20.constantcontact. com/render?llr=tscgx8iab&v=001 tCAOn-fejtsZdD40... 05/29/2012 <br />
