THE MOTION CARRIED 4- <br />O. <br /> <br />Consider Authorization to Hire a Police Officer <br /> <br />Chief Zerwas requested authorization to submit a conditional offer of <br />employment to Brian John Boos to fill the position of patrol officer which is open <br />due to the resignation of Officer Zarrett. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO GIVE BRIAN JOHN BOOS A CONDITIONAL <br />OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINGENT ON SUCCESSFULLY PASSING THE <br />DEPARTMENT PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMS. COUNCILMEMBER <br />THOMPSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />Review of Library Parking Lot Expansion Options <br /> <br />Mayor Duitsman indicated that he has requested to review expansion options of <br />the library parking lot. The planning staff submitted several different designs <br />which included expanding the number of parking spaces from the design <br />approved by the Council. The Council reviewed these designs. Mayor <br />Duitsman indicated his concern that there may not be enough parking spaces <br />with the approved design. The City Administrator indicated that if, in the future, <br />it is evident that there are not enough spaces for parking, the City can review <br />other options. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Council to move ahead with the parking lot <br />improvement using the design approved by the Council on 5/18/98. <br /> <br />Request for Conditional Use Permit for Boys and Girls Club <br /> <br />This issue was tabled by the Council on May 18. Steve Ach indicated that the <br />request is made by the Boys and Girls Club of Elk River to construct a building to <br />house the Boys and Girls Club at Lions Park. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO APPROVE THE CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR <br />THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 12,000 SQUARE FOOT BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB AT LIONS <br />PARK WITH THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: <br /> <br /> <br />
