6 / Elk River Star News / Wednesday, March 11, 1998 <br /> <br />Area news <br /> <br />i Sherburne County Briefs <br /> <br />Commissioners consider <br />20-year transportation plan <br /> <br /> Now, it's the Sherburne County commissioners' tarn to <br />consider a 20-year county transportation plan. <br /> A consultant has put the plan together, based on all of the <br />available data. <br /> The plan calls for spending $45 million to do the 63 pro- <br />jects. <br /> Part of that money will come from get~_'ng state aid from <br />an additional 55 miles of newly designated state aid roads. <br /> The plan specifies there is a need for an additional local <br />Mississippi River crossing into Monticello. Some major improvements include: <br /> · A new service road on the south side of Highway 10 in <br />Becket. <br /> · A new east-west connection between County Road 5 and <br />County Road 73 in Big Lake. <br /> · A new east-west connector between Highway 169 and <br />County Road I in Elk River. <br /> · An upgraded CSAH 4 in Zimmerman. <br /> Here are some suggested projects: <br /> · Reconstruction to four-lane urban of CSAH 12 in Elk <br />River between CSAH 13 and county line, cos~ng $1 million. <br /> · Grading and paving of CR 65 between CSAH 7 and TH <br />10, costing $400,000. <br /> · Recommend swapping CR 50 for 200th Street and <br />extending 200th Street to the north, realigning with CR <br />81/CR73 for a continuous north-south route. <br /> · County should study potential of using existing 211th <br />Avenue alignment and extending it to CSAH 5 at a cost of <br />$1,700,000. <br /> · Discuss with NSP establishing a corridor for the long- <br />term development of a collector route. <br /> The plan projects traffic growth for the next 20 years. SRF <br />Consulting Group, Inc. of Plymouth wrote the plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
