Part-time employees will receive paid holidays on the same basis as regular, full-time <br />employees, except that holiday pay will be pro-rated according to the number of hours <br />worked.To be eligible, part-time employees must work a set schedule with a minimum of <br />forty (40) hours per biweekly pay period. <br />Temporary and seasonal employees are not eligible for holiday pay. <br />For employees working a Monday through Friday workweek, holidays occurring on <br />Saturday will be observed the preceding Friday and holidays occurring on Sunday will be <br />observed on the following Monday. <br />When a holiday falls during an employee's vacation or sick leave, the employee will not be <br />charged with vacation or sick leave for the holiday hours; the hours will be considered <br />holiday leave. <br />Although the city prefers that employees enjoy the observed holidays, emergencies may <br />arise.If anon-exempt employee is required by his/her supervisor to work on a holiday, <br />overtime (in addition to holiday pay) shall be paid as follows: <br />1. Regular, frill-time and regular part-time employees shall be paid time and one-half. <br />2. Snow plow operators shall be paid double time on the actual holiday if different <br />from the day observed by the city. <br />3. Firefighters shall be paid double time for emergency response and scheduled Fire <br />Watch hours worked on NewYear's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor <br />Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day (December 25) and Christmas Eve. <br />4. Part-time, seasonal or temporary employees will earn time and one half on the <br />following four holidays <br />• Independence Day <br />• Christmas Day <br />• New Year's Eve after 4:30 p.m. <br />• New Year's Day <br />Liquor store employees may be required to work certain holidays. If a regular, full- <br />time liquor store employee works on a day designated as a holiday as listed above, <br />the employee may take another day (eight hours) off in lieu of the holiday. Non- <br />exemptliquor store employees will be paid at one and one-half times their regular <br />base rate for working the following days: <br />• After 4:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve <br />• New Year's Day (when open) <br />• Memorial Day (when open) <br />• kndependence Day (when open) <br />• Labor Day (when open) <br />• Christmas Eve Day (when open) <br />Leaves of Absence <br />The city provides leaves of absence according to the following policies. Unless otherwise <br />indicated, all leaves of absence are unpaid. An employee requesting a leave of absence <br />must complete a Request for Leave of Absence form.
