The city looks forward to a continued spirit of city/DNR cooperation
during the construction phase of the project.

In direct response to your comments on the EAW, the city will draw the lake down as
quickly as possible to minimize the chance of summer fish kill. The city will also allow
flow to escape to the tail waters of the Elk River while Lake Orono is being refilled after
the project is completed. Lastly, the city plans to continue to support work on improving
the Elk River Watershed and in the immediate lake drainage to reduce erosion. The Lake
Orono Improvement Association has already discussed the issue of ongoing city
participation with lake issues task force.

If there are any further questions, please feel free to call.

Sincerely,

13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
