While discussing the preliminary findings (to establish a quote) from SBEC,
Czech noted that there have been leaks with heavy rain in the Olympic as
well. When SBEC examined the roof between the barn and the Olympic, they
discovered at least a dozen hairline cracks to the precast which could be the
cause of the leaks that have been experienced in the Olympic rink. They
suggested testing in this area as well, which would cost an additional $1,980
bringing the total for the 2"d proposal to $5,880.00.
Czech stated that he has worked with Steven's Engineering, The 292 Group
Architects, and Nelson and Rudy. He noted that he has no experience with
Roof Spec Inc, but that he believes all of the businesses involved in the
proposals would be capable of performing the necessary studies. Czech
recommended the second proposal, and including the option of the Olympic
study, which would bring the total to $5,880.00. Czech recommended that the
study's be paid for out of the bleacher fund that has a funds of $8,936.00.
Commissioner Gumphrey said he would like to leave the funding as is if
possible and directed Czech to meet with Financial Director Tim Simon about
other funding options.
Czech states that he will present the Commission's decision to the City
Council at their next meeting (which was the following week). He notes it
typically takes 2-2.5 weeks for the results to be in, so we should have more
information at the April meeting.
MOTION BY VICE CHAIR JOHNSON, AND SECONDED BY
COMMISSIONER NZIOLEK TO MOVE FORWARD WITH OPTION
B WITH THE ADDITIONAL STUDY TO BE DONE ON THE
OLYMPIC ROOF- WITH ARENA MANAGER CZECH
RESEARCHING ADDITIONAL FUNDING OPTIONS.
