Definitions of Sexual and Other Forms of Harassment <br />Harassment consists of unwelcome conduct based on a person's race, color, creed, religion, <br />national origin, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, status with regard to <br />public assistance, veteran status, or any other protected class status that is interfering with <br />your job performance; or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment; <br />or when submission to such conduct is: <br />• a condition of employment; or <br />• a basis for an employment decision affecting your job. <br />The city prohibits harassment in any form, including verbal, physical, and visual <br />harassment. <br />One form of prohibited harassment is sexual harassment. Sexual harassment includes <br />unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, sexually motivated physical <br />contact or other verbal or physical conduct or communication of a sexual nature that is <br />interfering with your job performance; or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive <br />work environment; or when submission to such conduct is: <br />• a condition of employment; or <br />• a basis for an employment decision affecting your job. <br />The city prohibits sexual harassment in any form, including verbal, physical, and visual <br />harassment. Some examples of conduct that may be sexual harassment under this policy <br />include: <br />• use of offensive or demeaning terms which have sexual connotations; <br />• telling suggestive jokes or stories and conversations about sexual exploits, sexual <br />preferences, and desires; <br />• jokes, cartoons, pictures, objects or stories which have a sexual content; <br />• threats, demands or suggestions that an employee's work status, advancement or <br />other terms and conditions of employment are contingent upon the employee's <br />toleration of or acquiescence to unwelcome sexual advances; <br />• repeated, unwelcome sexual flirtations, propositions, or invitations to social <br />engagements; or <br />• unwelcome and objectionable physical contact or physical proximity. <br />Scope of PolicX <br />This policy prohibits same sex harassment and harassment by members of the opposite <br />sex. <br />In addition, this policy prohibits sexual harassment and any other form of harassment by <br />any individual, including managers and supervisors, employees, co-workers, and third <br />parties such as clients, elected officials, consultants, contractors or vendors who deal with <br />the employees. <br />Reporting Harassment <br />If at any time you feel you are being harassed, you should immediately contact: <br />• your supervisor; and/or <br />
