Park & Recreation Minutes <br />May 14, 1997 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />$7,000 - $12,000. The Commissioners expressed a concern a void would be <br />created by removing the playground equipment from its present location. Phil <br />felt it would cost approximately $2,000-$3,000 to move the equipment. <br />Commissioner Dave Anderson suggested the city make a cash contribution <br />toward the purchase of new playground equipment. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER HUBERTY MOVED TO CONTRIBUTE UP TO $5,000 FOR HANDKE <br />SCHOOL PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT, TO MATCH THE AMOUNT CONTRIBUTED BY <br />DISTRICT #728. COMMISSIONER KUESTER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />8. Discussion on Park Developments East of Hi.qhway 169 <br /> <br />Chair Anderson indicated he and two others were the only ones present at the <br />Hillside water tower site for the scheduled meeting with the residents on park <br />needs. He added that the neighborhood group had previously indicated they <br />wouJd be present at this meeting with survey information, but were not in the <br />audience. Chair Anderson explained he has encouraged Kelly Oleen and Tom <br />Cruz to work together as a group and present their needs and desires to the <br />Commission. He was informed by Mr. Cruz the group now has survey information <br />available and will be coming forward with a proposal. <br /> <br />The Commissioners discussed possible uses for the park area at the water tower <br />site. It was the consensus of the Commissioners to hear the survey results from the <br />residents before making a recommendation to the City Council. <br /> <br />Phil stated one of the property owners east of Deerfield 3rd and Royal Oaks has <br />indicated possible interest in developing his property. Also, it appears the <br />development of the church property will begin this year. <br /> <br />Discussion on Permittinq CMl War Rec;~octment Group Encampment on EDA <br />Site Downtown - Auqust 8, 9 & 10 (Heritaqe Festival) <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER HUBERTY MOVED TO APPROVE THE CIVIL WAR REENACTMENT <br />GROUP ENCAMPMENT ON THE DOWNTOWN EDA SITE DURING THE HERITAGE <br />FESTIVAL. COMMISSIONER WESTRUM SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 7-0. <br /> <br />10.1. Set Date for Decision Resources Discussion <br /> <br />A meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 21st at 7:00 p.m. to discuss <br />the survey results with Decision Resources at the City Hall. <br /> <br />10.2. Set Date for Joint Meetinq with City Council <br /> <br />A joint meeting with the City Council has been tentatively scheduled for Monday, <br />June 2, 1997, from 6-7 p.m. <br /> <br />10.3. Joint Meetinq with Planninq Commission <br /> <br />A joint meeting with the Planning Commission has been scheduled for <br />Wednesday, June 11, 1997 from 6-7 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />
