cay of <br /> <br />iver <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />Item # 6.2. <br /> <br />Mayor & City Council <br /> <br />Pat Klaers, City Administrator <br /> <br />June 16, 1997 <br /> <br />Handke Playground Equipment <br /> <br />Representatives of the Handke Playground Committee will be present at this <br />City Council meeting to request a financial contribution for the purchase and <br />installation of new playground equipment at Handke School. The Park and <br />Recreation Commission supported this request at its May 14, 1997, meeting <br />(see attached minutes). The School District has agreed to contribute $3,000 <br />for this equipment. According to the motion of the Park and Recreation <br />Commission it is then recommended that the city also contribute $3,000 for <br />this youth recreation project. The source of funds would be the infrastructure <br />and equipment reserve that is designated for parks. <br /> <br />This project increases youth playground equipment in the community. <br />Equipment is available to kids in the neighborhood after school hours and <br />during :).c summzr. Additionally, this project allows the existing Flaygr:und <br />equipment to remain at the Community Education site. This equipment is <br />used by the kids in the neighborhood after school hours and by children, who <br />along with the parents, are attending youth baseball and soccer activities. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />It is recommended that the City Council contribute $3,000 for the Handke <br />playground equipment from the infrastructure and equipment reserve that is <br />designated for parks. <br /> <br />\\elkriver\sys\shrdoc\councilkhandkeeq.doc <br /> <br />13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
