Elk River City Council Meeting <br />March 16, 1998 <br /> <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />Land use plan amendment of approximately 70 acres of property <br />located along Burlington Northern Railroad tracks between 1 77th and <br />1 73rd, from MR (Medium Density Residential) to LI (Light Industrial) (Area <br />#71. <br /> <br />Rezoning of the 70 acres described above from Rle (Single Family <br />Residential) fo BP (Business Park) (Area #7). <br /> <br />Steve Ach stated that the request before the Council pertains to rezoning <br />certain areas marked as Area 5, Area 6, and Area 7 to industrial or business park <br />uses, consistent with the city's Strategic Plan. Steve Ach indicated that it has <br />recently been suggested that consideration also be given to light industrial <br />zoning in these areas. <br /> <br />Mayor Duitsman opened the public hearing. <br /> <br />Craig House, counsel for Mr. and Mrs. Brown, 10815 175th Avenue (Area #7), <br />indicated that the Brown's have a desire to look at the impact a business park <br />would have on their property. He stated that the Brown's have requested to <br />postpone this issue to May 18, 1998, so as to study the impact this rezoning would <br />have on their property. <br /> <br />There being no comments, Mayor Duitsman closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />6.8. <br /> <br />City of Elk River Request for Land Use Plan Amendment from MR to LI (Area #7) <br />City of Elk River Request for Rezonin.q from Rle to BP (Area #7) <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO POSTPONE THE CITY OF ELK RIVER'S <br />REQUEST FOR LAND USE PLAN AMENDMENT FROM MR TO LI AND REQUEST FOR <br />REZONING FROM R1E TO BP FOR AREA #7 TO MAY 18, 1998. COUNCILMEMBER <br />FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />6.10. City of Elk River Request for Land Use Plan Amendment from MR to LI (Area #6) <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 98-25 AMENDING <br />THE LAND USE PLAN FOR AREA #6 FROM MR (MEDIUM RESIDENTIAL) TO LI (LIGHT <br />INDUSTRIAL). COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />6.11. City of Elk River Request for Rezonin.q from PUD to BP (Area #6) <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 98-7 REZONING <br />AREA #6 FROM SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL TO BUSINESS PARK. COUNCILMEMBER <br />FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />6.12. City of Elk River Request for Land Use Plan Amendment from HB to LI (Area #5) <br /> <br />6.13. City of Elk River Request for Rezonin.q from PUD to BP (Area #5) <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO DENY THE CITY OF ELK RIVER'S REQUEST FOR <br />LAND USE PLAN AMENDMENT FROM HIGHWAY BUSINESS TO LIGHT INDUSTRIAL AND <br />THE REQUEST FOR REZONING FROM PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT TO BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />
