MEMORANDUM TO: Economic Development Authority FROM: Annie Deckert, Director of Economic Development DATE: January 9, 2012 SUBJECT: Consider Commission Appointments/Assignments In the past the EDA has maintained two standing committees, Finance Committee and Industrial Marketing Committee, who meet on an as-needed basis. At their January 9, 2011 meeting, the EDA dissolved the Industrial Marketing Committee due to the creation of the Branding Subcommittee for the execution of the branding process. The Brand Plan was completed in September of 2011 and Branding Subcommittee dissolved and will no longer be meeting. The Subcommittee helped form the Brand Champions Team, a group of approximately 151oca1 business and community leaders, which will have its first meeting on January 31S`to discuss how to energize the brand throughout the community. At the February EDA meeting, staff will give an update of the progress of the Private Sector Brand Champions Team and will potentially be asking for EDA participation in the Champions Team. Finance Committee The Finance Committee is actively utilized for review and recommendation of the Economic Development Micro Loan applications and policy amendments to the EDA. Below is a list of the subcommittee members: Nate C-vall (The Bank of Elk River representative) Cliff Lundberg (Business representative) Vacant (Business representative) Chad Vitzhum (First National Bank of Elk River representative) Larry Toth (HRA representative) Dan Tviete (EDA representative) Paul Motin (EDA representative) Energy City Commission Past EDA Commissioner Ron Touchette served on the Energy City Commission (ECC) through his term on the EDA. This term expires February 28, 2014. Currently, Council Member and EDA Commissioner Matt Westgaaxd serves on the ECC as the City Council representative. Mr. Westgaard may also act as the EDA representative if no other EDA Commissioner is available to serve. PQNEBEB Q~ ~A 1
