She stated that a low interest loan (2% interest) may be available to the Arts Alliance. <br />Commissioner Chuba asked if there were any grants available. Ms. Deckert stated not to her <br />knowledge. <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SETALA AND SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER STEINBECK <br />TO SUPPORT THE ARTS ALLIANCE ACQUISITION OF THE FORMER FIRST NATIONAL <br />BANK SITE AT 716 MAIN STREET FOR A REGIONAL ART CENTER, AS AN ENERGY <br />EFFICIENCY DEMONSTRATION SITE. ALL IN FAVOR. MOTION CARRIED. Commissioners <br />Touchette and Chuba abstained from voting on the motion due to a conflict of interest. <br />5. 2011Energv Expo Update <br />Ms. Haug informed the commission that staff has received confirmation by keynote speaker Ron <br />Schara (and his dog, Raven), and four exhibitors have signed up. She noted that the Expo will be <br />in competition on that day with the Minneapolis Home Show. Ms. Haug stated that they will be <br />giving away free energy audits, instead of the Energy Star rebates. KBOB has offered nine 90- <br />second slots for advertising businesses that will exhibit at the Expo. January 22 is the cutoff for <br />exhibitors. Requests will be accepted to exhibit after the deadline, but their business will not be <br />on the advertising for the Expo. <br />Chair Zehringer noted there will be 15 minute-workshops for participants to come and learn about <br />different energy efficiency topics. Ms. Haug stated that KBOB will be offering prizes. Ms. Deckert <br />stated that prizes include tickets to Moon Dance, We Fest, etc. <br />Ms. Haug stated that businesses such as MetalCraft will be sponsoring prizes. Ms. Deckert stated <br />that prizes include tickets to Moon Dance, WeFest, etc. <br />Discussion followed regarding ways to get exhibitors to participate. Ms. Haug will check with the <br />school to see if an electric car could be displayed. Commissioner Steinbeck noted that GRE has <br />an electric care. Denny Chuba suggested checking with Volt to see if they would be interested in <br />displaying an electric car. <br />10. Consider EDAM Membership <br />Staff discussed the possibility of a being a bronze medalist sponsor with the EDA for EDAM. <br />She noted that Ms. Haug and Chair Zehringer spoke at the last EDAM (Economic Development <br />Authority, MN) conference. Ms. Deckert asked if the Commission was interested in the bronze <br />sponsorship, which would be split with the EDA. She stated that as a member, they would <br />receive recognition on EDAM's newsletter and emails, as well as at conferences. She noted that <br />other cities and utilities are sponsoring members of EDAM, as well. <br />MOTION BY COMMISSIONER TOUCHETTE AND SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER CHUBA <br />TO PARTNER WITH THE EDA IN A SPONSORSHIP WITH EDAM AT A COST OF $375 <br />WHICH WOULD BE SHARED WITH THE EDA. ALL IN FAVOR. MOTION CARRIED. <br />11a. GRE Rebates Update <br />
