Arena Manager Czech notes that even with use as a field house, the barn
would still need a new roof.
Architect Betti notes that if you were only making the roof weather tight, the
cost would decrease, and that with the East expansion plan, there would be a
loss of parking.
Commissioner Malzahn states that the Youth Hockey Association supports a
renovation, however they need to make sure they still would have enough
office and storage space, regardless of the plan.
Commissioner Gumphrey suggests if we are going to consider keeping the
barn as a field house we should attempt to sell it to the School District.
Chair Martin states that having the locker rooms on the outside of the arena is
good for coach team access, however for practice, players would have to walk
through the lobby.
Architect notes that a walkway can be implemented to avoid the need for the
players to go through the lobby and that outside locker rooms, can be done in
phases, or could be identified as "school district cost". He notes that there is always the option of
not changing to an ammonia system, which is equally as efficient until it is
necessary. Our current cooling system uses R22, which is being
phased out.
Architect Betti notes that even if we do opt out of changing the ice plant, we
Should still have the renovation include being ready for the update to
ammonia. He also notes that if the system is changed only in the Olympic, we
could harvest the R22 from the Olympic to store for use in the barn.
Arena Manager Czech notes that if we were only to replace the ice plant on
