MINUTES OF THE ELK RIVER <br />HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION <br />AT THE ELK RIVER CITY HALL <br />Thursday, July I5, 2010 <br />Members present: Chair Lance Lindberg, Debra Mortensen, Kristin Harris, Stephen <br />Rohlf and Maxk Konietzko <br />Members absent: <br />Staff Present: Environmental Admutistrator, Rebecca Haug <br />Others Present: Frank Galli <br />11 Meeting called to Order: <br />Elk River Heritage Preservation Commission was called to order at 6:13 p.m. by Chair Lance <br />Lindberg. <br />21 Considet,)_uly 15 2010 HPC Agenda <br />MOTION TO APPROVE THE AGENDA BY COMMISSIONER HARRIS. SECOND <br />BY COMMISSIONER ROHLF. ALL IN FAVOR. MOTION CARRIED. <br />31 Consider A~ri115, 2010 HPC Minutes <br />MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES WITHOUT CHANGES BY <br />COMMISSIONER KONIETZKO. SECOND BY COMMISSIONER MORTENSEN. <br />ALL IN FAVOR. MOTION CARRIED. <br />Discuss 315 Jackson St <br />Frank Galli, owner of 315 Jackson St. discussed his plans to make the site into a Neopolitan <br />Pizza Restaurant. Because of some building code requirements, he is proposing to make <br />modifications in the interior and exterior of the building. Cormiussioner Rohfl expressed <br />concems with removing the crown molding and offered to contact the State Architect with <br />the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) to see if it could be saved but still provide the <br />fireproofing as requited by the Building Code. Mr. Galli also discussed removing the <br />exterior awning to maximize the outdoor light. He expressed concerns with a drain in the <br />Diamond City Bread entrance. <br />MOTION TO ENCOURAGE THE CITY SEWER/STORM SEWER DEPT TO HELP <br />DETERMINE IF REMOVING THE AWNING WOULD AFFECT THE DRAINAGE <br />BY COMMISSIONER ROHLF. SECOND BY COMMISSIONER HARRIS. ALL IN <br />FAVOR. MOTION CARRIED. <br />Discussion continued and staff was directed to look into how other communities study <br />historic buildings for restoration. <br />
