Rolfe, Chief of Police <br />Item Description Reviewed by <br />Resolution Authorizing Execution of Agreement between the <br />Elk River Police Department and Minnesota Department of Reviewed by <br />Public Safety. <br />Action Requested <br />The Mayor and City Council are asked to adopt the attached resolution authorizing the Elk River Police <br />Department to enter in to a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, fox traffic <br />safety enforcement projects during the period of October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2014. <br />Background/Discussion <br />The Elk River Police Department has been a long time participant in joint law enforcement traffic safety <br />initiatives in Sherburne County. The Elk River Police Department has also been the lead administrative <br />and fiscal agency for many of these grant funded programs which also include the Sherburne County <br />Sheriff's Officer and Big Lake, Becker and Princeton police departments. The Sherburne County <br />Collision Reduction and Safer Highways program (C.R.A.S.H.) has been awarded a $93,000 giant through <br />the Office of Traffic Safety to fund continuing traffic safety efforts in Sherburne County for the period <br />from October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012. The attached resolution authorizes the F.lk River <br />Police Department to serve as the administrative and fiscal agent fox this period.
