T' n~ <br />ver <br />MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Energy City Commissioners <br />FROM: Rebecca Haug, Environmental Administrator <br />DATE: October 14, 201 I <br />SUBJECT: Meeting Reminder & Staff Updates -October 19, 201 I <br />This is to remind you of our upcoming meeting on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. in the Uppertown <br />Conference Room at the Elk River City Hall. The agenda and August minutes axe attached. <br />STAFF UPDATES <br />ENERGY EXPO <br />The Energy Expo is scheduled for Mazch 10, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Elk River High School. The <br />Keynote Speaker will be Michael Futtxnan, MN native Wildlife Photographer. There will be a medallion hunt to <br />increase the awareness and help in funding the Expo. Staff has been asked about combining the event with the Elk <br />River Axea Chamber Business Expo. Staff is concerned about this as they feel that the Energy component would <br />be lost and that there has already been considerable work done on planning this event including advertising. Staff is <br />open to hear comments from the Commission on this. <br />PROJECT CONSERVE PHASE II & III <br />The final meetings for Phase II were held on October 1, 3, and 4, 2011. The main topic was transportation fuel <br />with an overview of the electric, natural gas, water and garbage/recycling presentations. The conservation results <br />for each topic azea were covered as well as the highest individual savings. The Save Our Precious Resources <br />(SOPR) Team results were also presented. The highest individual annual savings was $620 with 3 participants <br />exceeding the $500 savings goal. Staff will go into more details about the results during the meeting. <br />The first Phase III meetings have been scheduled for October 20, 22, and 24. There aze 240 residents signed up fox <br />the pxograzn and 3 businesses signed up. The first meetings will be an introduction and discussion on ways to <br />conserve electricity. <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING & BRANDING MEETING, SEPTEMBER G, 2011 <br />Thank you to all of you who were able to attend the meetings on September 6, 2011.
