Appendix E: Relevant News Articles (cont.) <br />Copyright 2005 Dolan Media Newswires <br />Finance & Commerce (Minneapolis, MN) <br />October 13, 2005 Thursday <br />SECTION: NEWS <br />LENGTH: 227 words <br />HEADLINE: Four manufacturing facilities sprouting in Twin Cities suburb <br />BYLINE: F & C Staff <br />BODY: <br />Officials have either broken ground or soon will on four manufacturing facilities in Elk River, a <br />northwestern suburb in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. <br />The latest groundbreaking is set for today for an 18,000-square-foot facility being built by Alliance <br />Machine Inc. on a 2.84-acre site. The project will allow the company to retain 30 existing jobs and to <br />create nine new ones. <br />Other facilities are being built for the following businesses: <br />`Medical Extrusion Technologies Inc., which broke ground on Tuesday of last week fora 20,000-square- <br />foot facility on 2.64 acres. The facility is expected to create 23 jobs. <br />* Classic Acrylics Inc., which held a groundbreaking ceremony Sept. 29 fora 20,000- square-foot facility <br />on 2.48 acres. The project will allow 13 jobs to be retained and five new ones to be created. <br />Crystal Distribution Inc., which plans to begin construction soon on a 30,000-square-foot facility on 3.7 <br />acres. The new facility will allow 31 jobs to be retained and 15 others to be created. <br />Scott Clark, community development director in Elk River, said the projects are evidence that the city's <br />manufacturing market is maturing. <br />"The city looks at those projects as part of a long-term effort to attract companies that bring solid <br />employment opportunities and will become active participants in our community," he said. <br />LOAD-DATE: October 13, 2005 <br />
