The t88,ooo-square-foot facility is more than four times the size of an average Best <br />Buy store. <br />Although retail endeavors traditionally don't drive land-value increases, the enormity of Cabela's <br />undertaking is expected to draw more commercial and retail interest, raising already climbing land costs. <br />Unlike Thorpe, however, Cabela's didn't choose the location based on land availability. <br />"Anyone who's ever been on 694 or 94 on a Friday afternoon will know why we put the store where we <br />did," laughed John Castillo, Cabela's spokesman. "If you're not behind someone pulling a boat, you've <br />probably got one hitched up yourself." <br />The store is hoping to attract those who are on their way "up north" to cabins, along with other visitors. <br />Castillo estimated that nearly 4 million people will visit the store each year. <br />"When you have that many people going through an area, it's going to attract more development, <br />especially in terms of retail and hotels," Little said.
