The new 32,000 sq. ft. facility provides more space and increases production efficiency for the leading manufacturer of HVAC curb-adapters. "SourceGroup did an outstanding job of organizing and managing the project," says Pat O'Brien, President of CDI. "Their recommendations, design and construction helped us to create a new image for our company." Prior to construction of their new facility, CDI operated out of 21,000 sq. ft. of space at amulti-tenant building near Maple Grove, Minnesota. "It was a logistical nightmare," says Mr. O'Brien. "We leased four bays located at different ends of the building, which meant that we were constantly moving products and materials from bay-to-bay." In order to improve production efficiency and manage growth CDI looked to build a more efficient manufacturing facility. After contacting various contractors Mr. O'Brien chose SourceGroup. "We just felt comfortable working with them," says Mr. O'Brien. "And, often times that's the most important factor." For the project, SourceGroup was able to complete the construction in four months -- on time and on budget. The new 32,000 sq. ft. facility features 4,800 sq. ft. of office space, higher ceilings for additional storage space, five loading docks and two drive-in bays. Along with higher ceilings, CDI was able to install an overhead crane system, which allows trucks to back in for loading and unloading purposes. "At the old facility we needed a dozen guys just to load one piece," says Mr. O'Brien. "Now all we need is one guy to operate the controls and our loading and unloading is finished in no time." The facility also features a large dust collection system that captures and filters the smoke produced from welding. For safety the new facility features astate-of- the-art fire alarm system recommended by SourceGroup. "Did SourceGroup have insight on how to do things --absolutely," says Mr. O'Brien.
