West <br />Mandatory Firefighter Training <br />October 20, 1997 <br /> <br />The following firefighter training classes are the mandatory minimum training requirements for all <br />Minnesota Firefighters. These are designed to meet the Federal and State regulations. These <br />training requirements have been reviewed and supported by the Minnesota Department of Labor <br />and Industry, Occupational Safety and Health Division. <br /> <br />1. Hazardous Materials Awareness (4 training hours) <br /> <br />2. Communicable Disease Risk Exposure and Prevention of the Transmission of Bloodbourne and <br />Airboume Pathogens for Emergency Responders (3 training hours) <br /> <br />3. Confined Space Entry Awareness.~.3 training hours) <br /> <br />4. Employee Right To Know (3 training hours) <br /> <br />5. 1403 Basic Firefighter Course (minimum class to meet OSHA standard) (72 training hours) <br /> NFPA 1001 Firefighter I and II (this course meets minimum requirements for Minnesota <br />firefighter certification) (90 training hours) <br /> <br />6. First Responder-First Aid and CPR (40 training hours) <br /> <br />The following list of training classes must be completed on an annual basis: <br /> <br />1. Firefighter Personal Protective Equipment (OSHA 1910.132-138) <br /> <br />2. Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (OSHA 1910.134(b)) <br /> <br />3. Firefighter Safety <br /> <br />4. Fire Behavior <br /> <br />5. Ladders <br /> <br />6. Forcible Entry <br /> <br /> <br />
