Serving The People Since 1972 <br /> <br />Four major areas of service are the focus of the Society. <br /> <br />Collect, Preserve and Exhibit <br /> <br />The Society maintains a systematic collection of historic artifacts and records documenting human <br />activity from all parts of Sherburne County. <br /> <br />The gathering, storing, caring for, preserving, cataloging and displaying of these artifacts is of <br />primary importance. Objects large and small are part of the collection. The Fox House, which is <br />on the National Register of Historic Places, is preserved for eventual touring. <br /> <br />Some significant collections and artifacts include: <br /> <br />Sherburne County Conservation Club Records <br />Lois Fountain Collection of 1950s Clothing and Household Goods <br />1860s Fur Capelet of Mrs. Joshua Cater <br />Lois Keen Collection of Brown's Hotel Artifacts, Big Lake <br />Hope Lutheran Church Records, Orrock <br />Charley Kozak Collection of World War II Paratrooper's Gear <br />Abagail Romick Collection of Trask Family Photographs <br />Pratt Collection of Late 19th Century Clothing <br />1855 Hand-Drawn Plat Map of Orono <br />Sherburne County Agricultural Society Records <br />Fern Taylor Archival and Photograph Collection, Meadowvale <br />1876 Silk Dinner Dress from the Wheaton Family <br /> <br />Center for Study <br /> <br />Educational programs are provided to schools, the community and visitors on a formal and <br />informal basis. As people continue their education, the history of the county becomes more <br />important to them. <br /> <br />Resources such as the library and museum provide valuable assistance for scholarship carded on <br />by students, families, government and other organizations. Letters, journals, newspapers, diaries, <br />records, and other historic documents make the library useful. <br /> <br /> <br />
