AGENDA SECTION MEETING DATE PREPARED BY Consent August 15, 2011 Lauren Wipper, Human Resource Re resentative ITEM DESCRIPTION REVIEWED By Call Special Meeting for Monday, August 29, 2011, for Park and Robert Thistle, Interim City Recreation Director Interviews Adminstrator REVIEWED BY ACTION REQUESTED Council motion calling a special meeting for Monday, August 29, 2011 at 6:30 p.m., at City Hall to interview candidates for the Park and Recreation Director position. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION The City received 99 resumes from candidates interested in our Park and Recreation Director position. Interim City Administrator Bob Thistle and I narrowed those down to thirteen that we passed on to other members of the selection committee; Mayor John Dietz, Park and. Recreation Chairperson Dave Anderson, and Finance Director Tim Simon. This committee narrowed down the thirteen to seven, six of which will be interviewed by the committee on August 16, 2011. Of the seven invited for interviews, one candidate has accepted another position. Three of the interviews will be conducted long distance via Skype. The two park and recreation professionals that have volunteered their time to help us with Tuesday's interviews are Terry Just, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Maple Grove, and Gene Hackett, Recreation Director for the City of Crystal. The selection committee will select their top two candidates from Tuesday's interviews and recommend them for possible City Council interview on August 29, 2011.
