The memo from the August 8 worksession is
attached. The Council was in agreement and we are now bringing this item back as a formal request.
Mr. Czech has an employee, Dennis Walker, that has been an Arena Worker for the past twelve seasons
and is interested in this position. Mr. Czech would like to promote Mr. Walker into the Lead Worker
position beginning September 6. Mr. Walker has been one of the employees that has stepped up and
served in this position over the past few seasons when Mr. Hayward has been absent.
The first scheduled day for night-time ice is September 24. The annual craft show is the weekend of
September 17 and 18. Mr. Czech would like Mr. Walker to start on September 6 so he has some time to
train with the staff during the. day to learn the day-time operations, to help prepare for the craft show, and
to participate making the ice sheet between the craft show and the first day of ice.
If Council would like any further discussion on this item, Mr. Czech will be at the meeting and can
answer any questions.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funds are included in the 2011 budget for this position and as indicated in the memo that was presented
on August 8, there will be no budget impact for 2012. Future budgets will need to be adjusted fox step
increases.
N:\Public Bodies\City Council\Council RCA\Agenda Packet\08-15-2011\Arena Posidon.docx
