Consider Resolution Initiating Process for Consideration of Development Project (Public Safety Building) Finance Director Loxi Johnson indicated that plans axe proceeding for the construction of a public safety facility and the relocation of Elk River Municipal Utilities to City Hall. She noted that the City has proposed financing the buildings with lease revenue bonds issued by the Economic Development Authority. Lori explained the steps and official action items required fox the financing process. She requested the EDA to adopt a resolution initiating the process fox consideration of the development project. She indicated that the resolution sets a public hearing before the EDA on April 8, 2002. COMMISSIONER TVEITE MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 02-01 INITIATING PROCESS FOR CONSIDERATION OF DEVELOPMENT PROJECT. COMMISSIONER KUESTER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED G-0. 6. 2002 Strategic Industrial Marketing Plan Update Economic Development Assistant Heidi Hall gave an update on the strategic industrial marketing plan. She reviewed the 2002 Community Profile and the 2002 advertisements. 2002 Business Retention & Expansion Visit Update Heidi Hall updated the EDA on the progress of the 2002 business retention and expansion visits. She indicated that staff has completed visits of about one-third of the potentia137 businesses. The Economic Development Assistant reviewed the summary of the xesuhs that she has received. Discussion was held regarding the results of the study, specifically relating to the issue of a lack of education. The EDA requested Heidi Hall to try to get more specific information relating to education. Commissioner I{linzing discussed the issue of companies not responding to the visits. Heidi suggested that the information be updated and that the retention and expansion surveys not be done so often. Commissioner Klinzing suggested tha[ the EDA encourage participation. President Gongoll indicated that the Chamber would also encourage participation. 8. Other Business Heidi Hall informed the EDA that Executive Director Catherine Mehelich had a baby boy.
