S ecial arketin Efforts
Special arketing efforts were focused on the following programs in June:
• Riverfront Concert Series
• ~halk It Up
• IKidstock
• ~,.acrosse League
• Ij'reschool Programs
• Gall Softball
• Safety Camp
• Bike Rodeo
• Farmers Market
• Pinewood Open
• Pinewood Youth Classes
De art ent U dates
Applica ons are currently being accepted for the Parks and Recreation Director position.
The posing will remain open until filled. The Commission will be continually updated on
the hiring process.
The City of Otsego has approached the City of Elk River to discuss their recreational
program's offerings. They wish to explore the concept of working with the Ciry of Elk River
in delivering recreational programs to Otsego residents. Staff met with the Otsego Parks
and Recreation Commission to discuss what recreational programming they feel would
positively serve their community. Now that summer programs have for the most part
started, Staff will be able to begin developing a proposal that would benefit both Elk River
and Ots@eo residents.
The Parrs and Recreation Department has received questions from the public regarding if
the state] level government shutdown will have an impact on Elk River City Parks. We want
to relay ghat the shutdown will not affect public access to Elk River City Parks. This
shutdowin only affects the State park system. One way, however, that the shutdown is
affectin the Elk River Pazks and Recreation Department relates to grants that have been
applied~'or through the DNR. There may be a delay in the decision of two grants that have
been applied for, one for Hillside Ciry Park and one for the Youth Athletic Complex.
