Councilmember Farber opposed. <br /> <br />Public Headn,q on Modification of Tax Increment District No. 5 <br /> <br />Director of Economic Development Paul Steinman indicated that the purpose of <br />this item was to hold a public hearing as required by state law to modify the Tax <br />Increment Financing Plan for Tax Increment Financing District No. 5 (AIItool). He <br />stated the purpose of the modification was to allow for the expenditure of <br />approximately $1¢]5,000 to $225,000 in excess TI F funds from this TI F District. The <br />funds are proposed to be used for land acquisition and/or other public <br />improvements. <br /> <br />Mayor Duitsman opened the public hearing. There being no one for or against <br />the matter, Mayor Duitsman closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 97-123 MODIFYING TH E <br />TAX INCREMENT FINANCING PLAN FOR TAX INCRMEMENT FINANCING DISTRICT <br />NO. 5 IN THE CITY OF ELK RIVER. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED S-0. <br /> <br />Consider Hirin.q Street Laborer Position <br /> <br />Street/Park Superintendent Phil Hals stated that he had received 1,5 applications <br />for the position of Maintenance I. He indicated that he interviewed five of the <br />applicants. Phil recommended that the Council authorize the hiring of Philip <br />Barsody to fill the Maintenance I position beginning Tuesday, December 2, 1~]~)7, <br />at a starting pay of $¢].16 per hour (Step 7, Level <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING OF PHILIP BARSODY <br />FOR THE MAINTENANCE I POSITION VACANCY CREATED BY THE RESIGNATION OF <br />AMY BORST, WITH A STARTING WAGE OF $9.16 PER HOUR (STEP 7, LEVEL A), <br />BEGINNING ON DECEMBER 2, 1997. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED $-0. <br /> <br />Consider Purchase of Administrative Van <br /> <br />Street/Park Superintendent Phil Hals indicated that staff was authorized by the <br />Council to obtain quotes for a van for city use. He stated that a three person <br />committee looked at six vans from local distributors. Phil distributed a handout <br />with the vehicles and prices listed in order of the committee's preference. He <br />stated that the money for this purchase is programmed into the 1~]~]7 equipment <br />reserve budget. <br /> <br /> <br />
