Chad Grande and Tom Geiser have taken on
the task of learning how to use it. Vermeer came to help train and assist with problems that
come up.
There aze three basic components. The first component is the bore rig puts ten foot rods
together to turn, push, and steer the head to a location where we need to stop, then we hook the
cable on the head and pull it in. The second component is a tank to mix the mud in and pump to
the bore rig. This mud goes thru the center of the rods and out a nozzle on the head. The mud
helps keep the hole open and keep the head coo]. The third component is the locator, with this
you can see where the head is. The locator operator talks to the bore rig operator to let him know
if he needs to go up or down and right or left depending on the upcoming terrain.
We aze using the bore rig in cable replacement projects and new projects where it is not
feasible to plow. This size of bore rig works good with most of the projects we have to do.
