If
you have any questions, please feel free to call.
Thanks very much and have a great day,
Paul
Paul Bockenstedt
Planf/Restoration Ecologist
Bonestroo Natural Resources
2335 West Highway 36
St. Paul, MN 55113
651.604.4812
www,bonestroo. com
JULY ELK RIVER NRI UPDATE
Landowner Contact -Task 4 Work Program (proposed AriUMay 2004)
We continue to receive a few landowner post card responses for property access every once in a while,
with two arriving in the last week of July. The gravel mining folks, who verbally granted partial access
were to send an electronic map showing where access is allowed for the NRI. We have not received a
map from them yet, and will continue to try and get that from them. If you recall, the Gun Club at their
June Board meeting expressed interest in having someone available Aug. 15 for interpretive hikes at
their annual picnic, they said they would respond to us regarding access to the NRI. However, the Club
has not gotten back to us, despite messages being left...I'll continue to try. At this point, I'm not sure if
the Club will even want someone at their Aug. 15 picnic. After about 10 weeks of regular attempts to
contact landowners who asked for additional information, we are stopping this activity as field work will
need to be the main focus in August.
Mapping, Field Inventory and Data Entry -Task 6 & 7 Work Program (proposed May-August
2004)
Work is complete on mapping of natural/semi-natural areas using MN Land Cover Classification
System methods (Task 7 of Work Program) and we are in the process of printing 24 x 24 inch field
maps for use in the field. Avery limited amount of field work has been conducted to this point. Liza
Gould and I are still working toward the completion of field work in the month of August, as proposed
(Task 6 in Work Program). As we are using tablet PCs to conduct field work, electronic data entry is
also occurring in the field (Task 7).
-----Original Message-----
8/3/2004
