West, ~/Wv~/ Emergency Man/~gement Director DATE: September 15, 1997 SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing Execution of Sub-Grant Agreement In order for the City of Elk River to receive Federal Disaster Assistance, the Mayor, on behalf of the City Council, shall sign the resolution authorizing execution of the sub-grant agreement. The signing of the formal resolution entitles the City of Elk River the opportunity to apply for federal disaster assistance in reference to the July 1st storm and heavy winds. The City of Elk River will enter into an agreement with the Division of Emergency Management in Minnesota and the Federal Emergency Management agency (FEMA) for funding to assist the city of Elk River in recovering costs related to the July 1st 1997 storm. Phil Hals, Public Works Director; Lori Johnson, Assistant City Administrator; and myself are working to compile the related expenses in reference to the storm effort from the various agencies within the City of Elk River. Once the related costs have been compiled, I will be meeting with Gary Peterson, Sherburne County Emergency Management Director to submit the required paperwork to FEMA and the State of Minnesota to determine eligible expenses for reimbursement to the City of Elk River. The first step in the reimbursement is formal adoption of the resolution authorizing execution of the sub-grant agreement.
