Memo
Project Name: Elk River Natural Resource
Inventory and MLCCS Mapping
To: Michele McPherson
From: Paul Bockenstedt and Liza Gould
Re: Project Update
Client: City of Elk River
File No: 1482-04-100
Date: April 8, 2004
Bonestroo
Rosene
Anderlik &
Associates
Our efforts to date have focused on collecting background information (Task 2) and beginning the aerial
photo interpretation process (Task 3). The data license agreement with Sherburne County was recently
finalized, with all necessary signatures secured. As a result, we now have the electronic mapping layers
that we need, and have created an ArcView GIS project for the inventory. This week we also received the
information from the DNR on known occurrences of quality natural areas and rare species, and will begin to
transfer that to our base map.
The next step is to identify natural areas where a field visit is appropriate, based on aerial photo review, so
that property access can be requested for those areas. We anticipate completing this process within the
next several weeks.
In all, the project is moving ahead smoothly, and we are eager to complete our advance work and begin
the field inventory process.
If you have any questions about the project or any of the work that's been completed to date, please feel
free to contact us.
Thank you,
Paul Bockenstedt
(651) 604-4812
Elizabeth Gould
(651) 604-4763
Bonestroo, Rosene, Anderlik and Associates, Inc.
2335 West Hiahwav 36+ St. Paul.
