Tibbits Brook, Rice Lake and a large wetland complex lie about
1,000 feet northwest of the site on the west side of the
abandoned railroad track.

Figure 2 is a U.S.G.S. Quad map excerpt that illustrates the site
setting.

c. Estimate of Quantity of Material to be Mined:

The estimated quantity of material to mined is around
7,000,000 cy. This includes topsoil and overburden. The
number is based on U.S.G.S. Quadrangle 10 foot contours and
the proposed excavation grades. Depending upon the
consistency of material with depth and the occurrence of
unsuitable material, the actual amount to be mined may be less.

d. Depth of Water Table:

The depth of the water table was identified during the ElS
process. The water table ranges from about 957 in the northern
portion of the site to about 945 in the southeast corner of the
site. A ground water divide, running approximately northeast-
southwest runs through the site. Figure 3 illustrates the depth
of the ground water and ground water flow directions beneath
the site.

Mining under this permit will occur to the grades illustrated on
the Excavation Plan, Sheet 1 of 2. These grades have been
developed to stay a minimum of five feet above the water table.
Mining into the ground water may be requested in the future.

e. Average thickness of overburden

The average thickness of overburden is estimated to range
between 0 and 5 feet. The overburden is a sandy loam.

8.) Plan of Operation:

The plan of operation is to extract and process sand and gravel on the
site. Processing will consist of crushing, screening, stockpiling, and
production of hot mix asphalt. During the initial stages of operation,

5
