About the Lake Orono Improvement Association Lake Orono <br />Im rovement <br />Association <br />~, <br />The Lake Orono Improvement Association, Inc. (LOIA), anon-profit organization, was formed in 1971 in response to water quality <br />and lake management issues. LOIA remains actively engaged on the environmental and recreational concerns of Lake Orono and the <br />inflowing Elk River. <br />Members of the Lake Association enjoy four main events throughout the year. The Annual Dinner and Meeting in March, when most <br />the Official Association business is conducted, a Smelt Fry in mid May, a Progressive Dinner in late July and the Luau on the Lake in <br />September.
