~i <br />• Elk River ^-~ <br />Mun><cip al Utilitie s <br />UTILITIES COMMISSION MEETING <br />TO: FROM: <br />Ellc River Municipal Utilities Commission Wade Lovelette <br />John Dietz, Chair Superintendent of Technical Services <br />Daryl Thompson, Trustee <br />Al Nadeau <br />_ <br />MEETING DATE: <br />AGENDA ITEM NUMBER: <br />March 8, 2011 6.1 <br />SUBJECT: <br />Staff Updates -Superintendent of Technical Services <br />DISCUSSION: <br />The following is a summary of projects and/or updates over the past several weeks: <br />- Troy and I attended the 2011 APPA Legislative Rally in Washington D.C. <br />In February, the locating department had a total of forty-four locate tickets. <br />Four of those were "emergency" locates. <br />r Staff has been using the thermal imaging camera to detect "hot-spots" in our <br />primary electrical equipment on the power distribution system. <br />- February 8t~' thru February 1 1, 2011 Jeff Murray attended the Meter School in <br />Marshall along with two of the linemen. His education report is attached. <br />- The Metering department continues with weekly and monthly substation <br />checks, and doing the monthly power bill. The meter change-out program is <br />still continuing as time permits. <br />- Home Energy Audits are still underway and are keeping our staff busy. <br />- The Security Systems department had a total of forty-eight phone contacts, <br />eleven personal visits, eleven systems quoted, seven sales made, seven installs <br />completed and nine service calls for the month of February. <br />- Power plant staff did the monthly run on the engines. Everything went well. <br />- On Thursday, Feb. 24"' at 11:32 am, GRE was testing relays and accidentally <br />tripped out the bus feeding into our substation transformer 14-3. This resulted <br />in a four minute power outage for some businesses, apartments and about <br />3,000 customers. Our office staff did a great job of handling the flood of <br />phone calls. <br />
