The average firefighter turn-out per incident for the month of January was 17. <br />The average response time to calls for the month of January was 6 minutes 23 seconds. <br />Year-to-Date Comparison <br />Through January 31 of last year, the Elk River Fire Department responded to 36 calls for <br />service (compared to 49 this year). <br />Year-to-Date Analysis <br />The Elk River Fire Department continues to see an increase in the number of calls for <br />service. The beginning of 2011 has been extremely busy. Despite the increase in call volume, <br />on-call firefighters continue to stand ready to serve and protect the community. While it is <br />difficult to forecast year-end personnel costs this early, staff will continue to monitor call <br />volume and its potential impact on year-end financials. <br />Other Updates <br />• The Department is scheduled to take delivery of its new heavy rescue truck on <br />Thursday, February 24, 2011. The apparatus committee will be traveling to Appleton, <br />WI to conduct a final inspection the day before and will drive the truck back to Elk <br />River the following day. A public open house and "wet down" ceremony will be <br />scheduled at a later date when the truck is fully outfitted and in-service. <br />• Our three newest members, probationary firefighters Provo, Lees, and Grosskreutz <br />have successfully passed their Firefighter I certification exams. <br />• On the emergency management end, planning has begun for possible spring <br />flooding. Preliminary work has also begun on replacing one outdoor warning siren <br />and upgrading some of the siren radio controller boards. <br />
