In my opinion, a drawdown is not the best management tactic to use on Lake Orono. [We <br />require that at least 25% of the littoral zone contains invasive species. It seems as if Lake <br />Orono would not meet that 25% minixnum.J <br />Ms. Hummel added the following comment in conclusion: "If the small area of CLP on <br />Lake Orono hasn't changed much over the years - I would just leave the CLP alone. For <br />some reason, certain lakes have never had their respective invasive species population <br />"explode". These lakes just leave the invasive species alone." <br />The CLP infestation has grown over time but does not meet the 25% coverage required by the <br />DNR for review of a permit application. Therefore, it appears that the DNR will not allow a <br />drawdown request in 2011 or until such time as there are significant negative impacts to the <br />ecosystem that would outweigh those listed above by Ms. Hummel. <br />
