~ity of

iver

TO:

FROM:

DATE:

SUBJECT:

MEMORANDUM

Item #4.5.

Mayor & City Council

Pat Klaers, City A i~rator
July 14, 1997

Fund Request from Central Minnesota
Initiative Fund

Attached for your information is some material from the Central Minnesota
Initiative Fund (CMIF) regarding a funding request to support the Sherburne
County Capacity Fund Campaign. No action is required by the City Council
at this time and this material is being passed on simply for your information.
At budget time, it may be appropriate to have representatives from CMIF
come to visit with the Council regarding this request.

The Council is aware that the city has levy limits placed on it for at least
1998 and that this will restrict our ability to raise tax revenues to fund our
general operations in the city. Additionally, the city has already received a
request for $36,000 over three or five years from the Sherburne County
Historical Society. It would not surprise anyone if the city received
additional new requests for funding in the near future. The city is going to
have difficulties meeting its own expenditures and may have to consider
cutting some of the current contributions that are made, much less expanding
this contribution list in 1998.

\\elkriver\sys\shrdoc\council\cmifrqst. doc

13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
