The corridor <br />Wlnner includes 6.5 miles of creek, and approximately <br />9,000 acres that constitute its watershed area. <br />The corridor has been identified by the <br />Minnesota DNR as one of the highest <br />quality natural areas remaining in [he Twin <br />Cities Metro Area. The DNR Metro Greenways <br />Program granted funds to Anoka County [o <br />complete a greenways study and management plan. <br />We worked with a 20-member local advisory committee <br />to complete the master plan. The committee included <br />representatives of the County"s Parks and Recreation <br />Department, cities of Oak Grove and Andover, University <br />of Minnesota Cedar Creek Natural Area, Anoka <br />Conservation District, Watershed Management <br />Organizations, and landowners and citizens. A technical <br />advisory committee including the DNR and other natural <br />resource agencies also participated. <br /> <br />Bonestroo: <br />• Gathered and analyzed natural resource data and <br />information to identify the key natural resources and <br />management issues for the corridor. <br />Facilitated the local advisory committee to create a <br />vision for the future of the corridor and goals for the <br />management plan. <br />• Completed a management plan for the corridor, <br />including specific strategies for natural area protection, <br />resource restoration and management, financing <br />options, and roles and responsibilities for partners <br />who will implement the project. <br />The Master Plan was adopted by the County Board.
