MEMO <br />TO: Bill Maertz <br />FROM: Suzanne Kostanshek, Senior Center Manager <br />DATE: 6-1-06 <br />SUBJECT: Staff Report <br /> <br />Hot Topic(s) of the Month <br /> <br />5-30 Cheryll Edinger, Crime Prevention Specialist <br />May is Older Americans Month and Senior Center Week (5-15 thru 5-20) <br />Monday, May 15, 1 PM -the Drag & Brag Antique Show! <br />Tuesday, May 16, 11:15 AM -Steve Dittbenner, Elk River Ambulance <br />Wednesday, May 17 - 11:15 AM -YMCA program rescheduled. <br />Thursday, May 18 -Mainstream Fashion Show 8 Shopping 1:30 PM <br />Friday, May 19 -Raptor Center 1 PM -Come and see an eagle, hawk, owl and falcon <br />demonstration. This free event is sponsored by The Elk River Area Women of Today <br />and the River City Bridge group. <br />Saturday, May 20 -Hot Potato Party 11AM - 1 PM Lunch and Music <br />Thursday, May 25 -Telephone Equipment Distribution Program. This program links <br />assistive telephone devices to eligible Minnesotans. <br />May 31 -Older Americans' Month Celebration at the Vintage Grill in Monticello. Older <br />adults from the Elk River, Monticello and Coon Rapids Senior Centers attend. <br />Working on Emergency Plans for Senior Center with Guardian Angels Homes and <br />Senior Dining. I invited Fire Chief Bruce West and Cliff Anderson to meet with our <br />committee. <br />The Boys & Girls Club is coming to the center once a week for 9 weeks this summer. <br />Write You Own Story / 2nd Class on 6-5 -This 2-part program has brought new <br />participants to the center. <br />Healthy Living 6-13 -Dementia vs Alzheimer's <br />Author Talk II 6-19 -Local author coming to speak. <br />City Rec Kids visiting the center on 6-29 for Bingo w Prizes & Root Beer Floats. <br />June Tours: <br />Amish tour in Lanesboro 6-28 <br />Landmark Center, Forepaughs and St Paul Cathedral 6-29 <br />
