The damage is throughout the roof and has caused major leaking in the Olympic rink. The insurance adjuster as well as a roofing consultant for the insurance company have been out and have inspected the damage to the roof. The consultant for the insurance company recommended to the insurance company a total replacement of the roof. During this time the insurance company is receiving bids from four roofing companies, as well as quotes from two cleaning companies to clean the interior walls that have water stains on them from the roof leaks. It is yet to be determined if the walls will need to be painted, once the quotes come in from the cleaning companies we should know more. I would expect that even if they could get all the stains removed from the walls, the paint where the walls were cleaned would be a different shade from the rest of walls. The city council adopted a resolution authorizing the emergency replacement or the repair of the Arena roof. This allows the city to move forward on the replacement or the repair of the roof without going through the cities bidding process, which would delay the replacement by weeks. The resolution was also needed so that repairs could be made as quickly as possible to avoid more damage to the interior of the building and to the ice in the Olympic rink. Once the city receives the final amount the insurance is willing to pay for the replacement of the roof, the city will then have to determine what type of roof to install and a contractor to install it. A final determination of the damages to the interior of the Arena will not be decided until the roof is completed.
