MEMORANDUM <br />TO: Parks and Recreation Commission <br />FROM: Bill Maertz, Parks and Recreation Director <br />DATE: September 8 , 2005 <br />SUBJECT: 2005 Park Project Update <br />• Basketball and Tennis Courts at Troutbrook, Kliever Point Park, West Oaks and <br />Highlands West have been paved. The low bid contractor for the color coating of <br />the courts has indicated that due to the rainy start of summer they are behind <br />schedule and will need a perfect September to finish all their projects in 2005. <br />The surfacing material is not warranteed if applied after October 1. Tennis court <br />fencing and basketball poles will be installed yet this year. <br />• New pazk benches and tables are back ordered, however the concrete pads will be <br />installed in September and installation of benches can take place as soon as they <br />arrive. <br />• The new soccer/ football field at the Youth Athletic Complex has been seeded, <br />and is growing quite nicely. Some erosion has occurred along on of the berms and <br />staff is in the process of making repairs. <br />• Playgrounds are installed at Kliever Point Park, Windsor Park and West Oaks. <br />• Shelters are installed at Lions Pazk, Windsor Park, YAC, Troutbrook Pazk, and <br />West Oaks. <br />• Trails are complete at Lions Park, Highlands West, Highlands East, Windsor <br />Park, West Oaks Park and Kliever Point Park. <br />• The prairie restoration at Highlands East received a grant from the DNR but will <br />not be funded unti12006. <br />• Interpretive sign design for Woodland Trails Park is under way and staff will <br />provide information regarding this project at the meeting on September 14. <br />• Trees have been planted in West Oaks, Kliever Point Park and Troutbrook Park. <br />Additional trees will be planted in Highlands West Park this year. <br />
