ity of <br /> <br />iv( r <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />Item # <br /> <br />Mayor and City Council <br /> <br />7.10. <br /> <br />FROM: <br />DATE: <br /> <br />Steve Ach, City Planner_~~ <br />June 16, 1997 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Consider Initiating Rezoning and <br />Land Use Plan Amendment of <br />of Certain Properties to Comply <br />with Strategic Plan <br /> <br />Issue <br /> <br />It requested the City Council consider initiating rezoning and land use plan <br />amendment of certain properties from their present zoning to industrial to <br />comply with the recently adopted Strategic Plan. <br /> <br />Overview <br /> <br />As presented to the City Council in the Economic Development Strategic <br />Plan, eight areas have been identified which meet the criteria to be <br />considered for rezoning to industrial to meet the city's long term economic <br />development goals. The eight areas that will eventually be considered for <br />rezoning are shown on the attached map. At this time staff is asking the <br />Council's consideration to initiate a rezoning and land use plan on Areas 1 <br />and 4. If the Council wishes to initiate these rezonings and land use plan <br />amendments at this time, staff will proceed with the appropriate public <br />hearing process and present these applications to the Planning Commission <br />and then have them forwarded on to the City Council. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />It is recommended the City Council consider initiating the rezoning and land <br />use plan amendments for Areas I and 4 as illustrated on the attached map. <br /> <br /> \\elkriver\sys\shrdockcouncil\strategi.doc <br /> <br />13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
