Economic Development Authority Minutes <br />December 13, 2010 <br />Page 2 <br />Ms. Johnson reviewed her staff report. She stated that staff is continuing to move forward <br />and will provide periodic updates on progress. <br />6. <br />Ms. Decker presented her staff repoa. <br />General consensus of the EDA was support for beginning the branding process. <br />Commissioner Dwyer expressed concern with the scope of work not being detailed enough <br />to accomplish the goal and also regarding timing of this project. <br />Commissioner Motin explained that he is hesitant with moving forward on the branding <br />plan at this time because he doesn't believe the timi ~ is right. He stated thaz he sees this as <br />an action step to the recently approved vision and the Council has not approved any action <br />steps at this time. <br />Commissioner Westgaard expressed concern with the timeline of the project and malting <br />sure it is not rushed. President Touchette questioned if the timeline can be changed. Ms. <br />Decker stated that it can be changed based on EDA direction. <br />Commissioner Westgaard questioned if consultant fees increase if the project is lengthened. <br />Ms. Johnson indicated that it should not be a problem as long as language is included in the <br />contract allowing the city flexibility in timing. <br />Ms. Mehelich added that according to the proposed timeline, the EDA will not select a <br />consultant until Febmarywhich falls in line with the visioning and action steps process. <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER ZERWAS AND SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER WESTGAARD TO AUTHORIZE STAFF TO BEGIN THE <br />RFP FOR THE BRANDING PROCESS AND TO PREPARE A LIST OF <br />PROPOSED SUBCOMMITTEE MEMBERS THAT WILL HELP FACILITATE <br />AND GUIDE THE BRANDING PROCESS FOR EDA CONSIDERATION IN <br />JANUARY. MOTION CARRIED 4-2. Conuiussioners Dwyer and Motin <br />opposed. <br />Staff Updates <br />Ms. Mehelich distributed and reviewed her Executive Director's report. <br />Ross Pomeroy, GreenCorps Member/Environmental Intern -outlined upcoming business <br />education events scheduled for January, April, and September. <br />8. Other Business <br />8.1. Consider Amendment to EDA Micro Loan to Promo Products <br />Ms. Mehelich presented her staff report. <br />MOVED BY COMMISSIONER KLINZING AND SECONDED BY <br />COMMISSIONER ZERWAS TO INCREASE THE AUTHORIZED MICRO <br />
