The 2001 Committee, nc.

13880 Highway 10

Elk River, Minnesota55330
Phone: 241-2720
1-800-433-5236
Fax: 241-2727

Date: June 5, 1997

To: Elk River City Council

From: The 2001 Committee, Inc.
Minnell Tralle, Chair

The 2001 Committee is in the process of planning a Fall conference to focus on the power
of the arts in enhancing community. We believe that this will be an opportunity to learn
more about how the arts can strengthen our community both economically and socially.
We will hear from the Citizen's League regarding their recent report and from
representatives from Minnesota communities that have successfully used the arts to
enrich the economic and social fabric of their communities. As with all of the
conferences, we will have an opportunity to dialogue about where we need to focus our
attention in the future. I would encourage all of you to mark September 27 on your
calendars to join other community leaders in discussing this important issue.

Historically, the City of Elk River has co-sponsored the 2001 Conferences through a
financial contribution. This allows us to bring in excellent resources and secure a facility
while keeping the cost to participants at a minimum. The 2001 Committee would like to
request a contribution from the City of Elk River in the amount of $300 to $350.
Sponsors will be recognized in all promotional and conference materials.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this request, feel free to contact me.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.

"Vision and Action for the Future"
