AGENDA SECTION MEETING DATE PREPARED BY Consent December 13, 2010 Lauren Wipper, Human Resource Re resentative ITEM DESCRIPTION REVIEWED B)/ Consider 2011 Compensation Plan and Title Change for Lori ohnson, Ci Administrator Cablecaster Position REVIEWED BY ACTION REQUESTED Approve the attached resolution adopting the 2011 Compensation Plan for Non-Organized Employees. Approve changing the title of the Temporary Cablecaster position to Part-time Cablecaster. BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION The majority of the Compensation Plan is unchanged for 2011. The 2011 budget does not include a cost of living adjustment and the first item in the Compensation Plan reflects that. The City Council previously acted on the 2011 Flexible Benefits Plan Contribution included in the Insurance Benefits section of the Plan. A change has been made to provide pay increases to part-time, seasonal, and temporary employees under item number 7 based on the City's discretion. Previously the increases were based on the supervisor's discretion. This change reflects the ability for the City Council to first determine whether there will be annual increases for non-regular part-time, seasonal, and temporary employees as a whole and then provides discretion to the supervisor on an individual basis to determine those increases based on the approved pay schedule. Based on the City's employment status definitions, the Temporary Cablecaster position has existed longer than the Temporary definition provides and is truly apart-time position. Changing the title of that position from Temporary Cablecaster to Part-time Cablecaster maintains consistency with those definitions. This is included in this request because pay for this position is in the Compensation Plan under item number 5. Because the 2011 Compensation Plan is relatively unchanged from 2010, it has been put on the consent agenda; however, if you would like to discuss it or would like a presentation on this plan, please pull it from consent and I will be available to present and discuss. FINANCIAL IMPACT Costs associated with the Compensation Plan are included in the 2011 budget.
