f <br />MEMORANDUM <br />J <br />Veh 1'O: <br />FROM: <br />LIBRARY BOARD <br />PHIL HALS, STREET/PARK SUP <br />DATE: AUGUST 31, 1994 <br />SUBJECT: WEST PROPERTY LINE FENCE <br />IMPROVEMENTS <br />A recent citizen complaint led to City Council directive that the Street/Park <br />department replace the broken wood posts that support the chain link fence <br />on the west property line of the Library. After a close inspection of the area, <br />my staff would like to propose the following improvements: <br />Remove the existing fence, bushes and sod on the west side of the <br />parking lot, leaving the lilacs, however, and then re-installing <br />landscape edging, new bushes, some type of stone mulch, concrete car <br />stops and the existing fence fabric with new steel posts and top rail. <br />The benefits that we hope to accomplish include a more stable fence, a more <br />pleasing landscape, and less maintenance required for weed trimming. <br />The costs are estimated to be: <br />Fence improveuxeut by a fencing contractor <br />Concrete car stops <br />Landscape edging <br />Landscape rock <br />Landscape plants <br />Irrigation repairs <br />$ 900 <br />1,125 <br />400 <br />250 <br />250 <br />200 ~/ ,~ ~ ~ r <br />All labor to remove the existing fence, sod, and plants, and install edging, <br />stone mulch, pleat: materials, and irrigation would be supplied by the City <br />Street/Park department. <br />Please consider funding options and contact me if you wish to consider such a <br />project. <br />P.O.
